Two weeks before we got to shoot engagement session for our friends – Ala and Artur. Very cute couple, we had great time during entire session. Both of them are very happy people, easy going. Artur spent over 1 year in Afghanistan as bomb squad soldier (yikes !) and Ala is one of those girls that you just love to hang out with…
For location we picked city park in Downers Grove, around 2PM, so I had no choice other than to use E-TTL with Flash Zebra cable + Lastolite Ez-Softbox. I controlled flash exposure compensation from the camera and when needed I used Lastolite tri grip diffusor hand hold by Kamila.
For couple of shots I decided to use my Carl Zeiss lens with tilt adapter. It was a little bit different than shooting still objects, since it’s manual focus…
Ooh, did I mention that Ala and Artur met on internet chat? Yeah, for realSo Kamila came up with an idea that you can see below. I used two lights, one 580ex II + Ez-Softbox, and one 580ex II + Lastolite Tri Grip, both on Pocket Wizards II, because ambient allowed me to synch at 1/200th of a second.
Then we went across the street and I noticed that quality of ambient started to be much better, so I didn’t think too much – grabbed my Flash Zebra cord and shoot E-TTL thru Ez-Softbox:
We wanted to do something unusual, and we decided jump is crazy enough. I knew that I couldn’t shoot close to 1.4, so I cranked my aperture to 5.6, locked my focus and used E-TTL with 580ex II with Ez-Softbox behind me (if you look carefully on shadows – you can see Kamila holding it behind me)
Big thanks to Ala and Artur, it was super fun, and we’re looking forward to have even more fun on your wedding!!
