As I wrote yesterday in my post, we wanted to do something special for Ala and Artur, and because Halloween and Fall season is approaching, we decided to find nice farm and go there before heading over to Chicago. So Kamila found Garden Patch Farms, I called and the owners weren’t that excited about us coming and taking wedding pictures. Why? Because they said that they had horrible season – almost no crops and they said there is nothing special to take pictures of or withwe decided to give it a try anyway and Friday after work we swung by the farm to see how bad it is
To our surprise farm looked pretty good and I knew we were about to have fun and take some amazing pictures over the weekend. We spoke to the owner, and then we realized that something that seemed boring and ugly to him – to me it was “something with potential”. Boy, I just want to be back at this farm shooting wedding or any other session, when the farm is at it’s best…
I had to overpower the sun, so I used my AB800 powered by Vagabond, triggered by PWII.

American farm wouldn’t be American without its red barn, so here it is. When we did location scouting day before, I knew I’m gonna use Ringflash, and sure enough I used it with my 24mm and 85mm lenses:
Here again I used AB800 for main light and 580ex II +1/2 CTO for background fill, because it was too dark, and I wanted to get those nice details and colors:
At this point, we were done with the farm. We bought some farm-made stuff, thanked the owners and went to grab something to eat. And the second part began – Chicago. We knew where we were going and what kind of pictures I wanted to take (location scouting rules!). My favorite setup for all the pictures (except couple with ambient light) – 580ex II with Lastolite 24″ softbox:
Before we headed home, I took couple of pictures near the museum while Kamila was driving around since parking was not allowed there
So yeah, it was awesome, working with Ala and Artur was great – as always, and I hope you like the output!
